Year 6

In English, Year 6 have written for a range of purposes, including an autobiography, setting description and a newspaper recount about the evacuation of Dunkirk. Within this, they have carefully considered the audience for their writing and tailored their vocabulary and formality to suit this. Within their setting descriptions, Year 6 have created imagery through metaphors and similes.

 
 
In Science, Year 6 have been learning about Evolution. They started with learning about how the Earth has evolved over 4.5 billion years and how life has developed over 3.8 billion years. Then, they moved on to learning about fossils and the process of fossilisation in sedimentary rock and amber. Amazingly, they have also had the opportunity to see some real fossils of trilobites, ammonites and devil’s toenails!
