Letter for parents about COVID-19 symptoms

The safety of everyone in our school community is paramount and we remain committed to ensuring our school is as safe as possible throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are constantly liaising and working closely with the local authority and Public Health England. The Local Health Protection Team advises that where pupils have tested positive for COVID any siblings should remain at home until they have had a PCR test.

If the result is negative they can return to school. PCR test results are often returned within 24 hours or less so siblings will not be away from school for too long.

Alongside the 3 main COVID symptoms (high temperature, persistent cough, change in taste or smell), Public Health England have advised that there are additional symptoms associated with the Delta variant, these include:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Cold
  • Headache

Anyone feeling unwell is advised to get a PCR test and isolate until the results are received. Details of the two Ipswich PCR test sites which are both open 8am to 8pm are:

  • Portman Road - Walk through site.
  • Copdock - Drive through site

Please be aware that appointments will need to be booked either online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by phone on NHS 119.
